Rated 1 out of 5 by from Super poor communication with customers about bill First, after a year of enrolling in auto pay, I received a notice of overdue balance. I called customer service to learn that the credit card company working with Safeco had made some changes in their contract and that affected customers needed to provide more information in order to use the service. No one told us--no email, no phone, no communication. I paid via credit card, with additional info, during that call and I was assured auto pay amounts would be accurate in the future. Second, the very next month, I received an invoice with a strange balance. I called and was assured it wouldn't happen again, asking for even more credit card info. (Seriously, they had everything already.) The bill was settled by phone again. Then 2 months later, I got another invoice (what happened to the credit card auto pay?) with a larger amount on it. A call to the customer service # revealed that my premium increased because of a claim. When I explained that we never had a claim, then he said my discounts having 2 policies had expired so the amount was larger. I only had one account all along. Needless to say, my husband and I are shopping for new auto insurance. We are 60 years old, never had a claim, and pay all of our bills on time. We are done with this company after only being with them for one year. Note, we had been with one other company for 25 years and had to change because we moved to another state. I NEVER had problems with the first company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst service I find the agents not to be honest at all and they do not do their jobs or they employee people who have no knowledge what so ever. I find them to be idiots what ever you ask them half of them have no answer for you I feel that it's time for me to take my business to another company at one time I was happy with them I'm no longer happy with this company. your statement will tell you that you owe this amount then you check your account and find out that they saying you owe more like over 400.00 they make you look like the bad policy is up in six months then I'm gone some where else it's sad when people aren't honest with you no matter what the circumstances are.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Started out timely, but has hit a brick wall. We are dealing with our fifth agent/adjuster. So far, he is not amenable to even considering a FMV of our damaged 'totaled' car on a basis fair to us. The CCC data base/software does not provide an accurate comparison (in the least), as it fails to take into consideration the uniqueness of this case; neither has the adjuster. He presents the lowball CCC figure only and has not attempted to consider or discuss the facts, our argument, or proposal. We are now in the "stall" phase. No longer any response. The Safeco ratings given here are to date, definitely subject to change with a fair and honest settlement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Consistent Standard There has never been a case that I feared the response of my insurance company.  The company has been fair, has been good to it's word and I feel comfortable with Safeco involved with my families welfare. I have had to make auto claims, I have made home claims (two roof claims), I have made theft claims. I have never had a complaint about their service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased My vehicle was rear-ended at a red light - the other driver was texting with a baby in her back seat. The other driver's insurance co. is totally responsible, but I called Safeco to inform them of what happened to me. As always, the representative was efficient, empathetic (I'd made only 1 payment on my brand new vehicle), and reassured me everything with Safeco was documented and I had nothing further to do.
