Terrible customer care

The accounting / billing section cashed a check written from my escrow but failed to report my homeowners coverage was paid in full. Therefore I recieved a late notice letter threatening deadline cancellation of my coverage. I contacted the escrow office and i inconvenienced others to investigate the matter. I spent lengthy valuable time looking into this matter. The conclusion was nobody from Safeco went above and beyond to look into the matter when all in all it was Safeco accounting / billing error. Im definitely not too happy about my choice of selecting Safeco as my homeowners insurance company. What if an actual claim was reported? Would mistakes still be made? I have not received an apology or a discount for this error. Where's the integrity?

Friendly Staff, Good Value, but Lacking Followthru

I purchased two policies: walls-in for a condo and Earthquake (which is backed by a state-program, CEA).The first transaction went fairly smoothly at first. The associate apparently got promoted shortly after I got the policy so I got dropped like a hot potato- didn't reply to my escrow's requests, and didn't make some requested modifications to the policy. Simply put, I (and my escrow agent) got brushed off. Came out in the wash but took extra follow up on my part.For earthquake, I got a quote and then called back once I found out that there were some different coverage options that weren't presented to me- I wanted to know if they were possible. It took me a ton of follow up and about a full week to resolve.Specifically, I signed up for $50k HOA-assessment coverage and I discovered that another condo-owner in the same zip code had $25k coverage. I confirmed with the state website that that's a normal option.Long story short I got a mixed bag of answers as to whether or not it was possible to drop to that coverage from the earthquake specialists- I often got the answer "we don't do $25k coverage" which seemed odd since it's a centralized State program. I had two separate instances where they promised to follow up after doing their own research and they did not.After my 4th or 5th call the individual agent (I don't think she was a "specialist") was able to change it to $25k without complication. I'm very grateful because it's a big savings for me.Not sure if there was some kind of system glitch going on during that time or what but it was admittedly frustrating.Bottom Line:You'll probably be happy with the end result but you need to really be proactive and persistent to get questions answered and to ensure you're getting the right information.

OH NO!!

We have two homes with SAFECO and wanted to insure a townhouse. Unfortunately, the company was unable to provide the insurance since it would be a "rental", i.e., adult child living there. Had to go with a company that could fulfill our new needs.

Simple add on

Customer Service Representatives always friendly & helpful. It's nice to be treated like a client instead of nuisance. It was simple and quick adding on a vehicle to our policy. They didn't ask a bunch of redundant or unnecessary questions about the vehicle's options when already had VIN #. Best rates we've found!
