Flood victims get relief from policy cancellation
At Safeco, we understand that the recent floods in the Midwest have wreaked havoc on thousands of lives, as well as disrupting mail service and displacing some people from their home or business.
So we’re taking steps to help our impacted customers by giving you extra time to pay your bill so you don’t have to worry about that too. For information about possible extensions in your area, please contact your agent.
In addition, the Safeco Insurance Foundation has also announced grants to American Red Cross chapters providing flood relief services to affected Iowa and Indiana residents. Read more.
Information for Customers in Illinois
On June 17, 2008, the Illinois Division of Insurance issued an emergency insurance bulletin for those who reside in, or have property located in counties that State or National officials have declared disaster areas.
For policyholders in these affected areas of Illinois, we’ve implemented a 60-day extension of any policy provisions that impose a time limit, including the payment of premiums, submission of a claim or proof of loss, reporting information or submissions of bills. This means you have a 60 day grace period in which to pay your bill after the due date and it will still be considered “on time.” Extensions will be granted until August 18, 2008.
Note: This is not a waiver of your premium. You will be billed for the entire period. After the 60-day extension ends, you will have to resume making premium payments as normal.
To report a claim, call our toll-free claims hotline at (800) 332-3226. However, if you are unable to report your claim to us by phone, we also accept submissions by fax at (866) 378-3661.
Rest assured that Safeco is prepared to handle every claim quickly and efficiently, providing our customers with the best possible service.
