Rated 5 out of 5 by from Auto Accident & Claims Process A few weeks ago, I rear ended someone. I have been with Safeco for a couple of years now. I have never had an Auto Accident. I was very scared and felt terrible for what happen. I had only had my new vehicle a couple of weeks when this occurred so the frustration was through the roof. I contacted Safeco directly from the scene of the accident. The agent was very compassionate and got all of my information quickly. The Claims Agent that was assigned to me was very helpful, patient and responsive to my calls and questions. So far, this process has been a breeze. Luckily, this was not a large claim. Only approximately 3k in damage to both Vehicles. The person that I hit is now claiming Medical needs when at the scene she appeared to be fine. This frightened me. the Claims Agent assured me this was common and to not panic. She made me feel as though she was a part of my "team" and was on my side. This is a great feeling to have as I have full confidence the individual that I rear ended was in no way hurt. I did not want to see Safeco or myself experience an unjust claim. My only concern now is a potential rate increase of course. I have confidence that this will not occur but I will be posting another review as a follow up in regards to what occurred with my rates.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unfortunate experience with auto vandalism I live in a rural area and was one of several neighbors who had vehicles damaged one night by a local vandal (since arrested). He put screws in the sidewalls of tires on two vehicles (8 tires) rendering them undriveable. I filed a single police report and called Safeco. Their weekend response was weak. I proceeded to remove all wheels on both vehicles, took them 25 miles to get the best tire prices, got tires replaced, then put the wheels back on the vehicles, thereby relieving Safeco of the responsibility of towing the vehicles (my right under the contract). I also took many pictures and emailed them and the police report to Safeco, then mailed Safeco the cost of the damaged tires (and later, at their request, copies of the bills for the replacement tires) and did everything they requested so they never had to send an adjustor to our rural area. My actions probably saved them a couple of thousand dollars in costs. Their response on this single incident was to take credit for two deductibles and save themselves $500. Makes me sorry to be a responsible customer!

Safeco was polite and helpful following initiating a claim, had a rental within an hour, and their follow-up has been timely and informative throughout. I am fortunate that I was with Safeco during this issue, and I will remain with them because of their service.
