At Safeco, volunteerism is a company value and way of life for many employees. Safeco’s award-winning volunteer program promotes and supports employee volunteerism in multiple ways.

Building Business Skills through Volunteerism

Safeco’s Building Business Skills through Volunteerism program offers employees the opportunity to identify a volunteer activity as part of their personal development plan.

Safeco Cares Committees

Fourteen employee-run Safeco Cares Committees operate out of Safeco offices nationwide, developing volunteer projects for groups of employees that benefit local nonprofit organizations.

Community Service Awards

Each year, three employees are honored with Community Service Awards for their extraordinary commitment to the community. They are nominated by employees and selected by Safeco’s CEO. Each honoree receives a $1,000 award to direct to the nonprofit organization of their choice.

Safeco Matching Programs

Safeco's matching programs support employee donations of time and money. Your Time Plus offers a $500 cash grant to nonprofit organizations for which a Safeco employee has volunteered 25 hours within the calendar year. Your Gift Plus matches employee gifts of $25 or more to nonprofit organizations up to $1,000 per employee, per year.

Time-Off for Volunteering

Safeco employees can take paid time-off during the work day to volunteer. The employee and their manager work together to agree on the amount of time based on business needs.
