Spokane, Wa. (May 4, 2010) — Some Safeco® Insurance employees in Spokane made good use of their time during a recent staff development meeting. The seven-member team decided to turn their team-building into a team giving operation.
The seven members of Safeco’s Service Operations Business Support team hand made more than 20 blankets to donate to terminally ill children and adults for the Hospice of Spokane.
The team worked with local Hancock Fabric store to secure blanket making materials, and the Oxford suites hotel gave them space in which to work over a three-day period.
"Contributions like this show the caring and compassionate nature of Safeco's employees while helping Hospice of Spokane better serve our clients, their families and loved ones," said Jackson Williams, Donor and Community Outreach Coordinator for Hospice of Spokane.
Diane Schultz, Customer Service director who manages Service Operations Business Support, said, "I'm extremely proud of what this team has accomplished. This is just one example of how they represent the company and demonstrate the meaning of ‘responsibility’ within our community."
In business since 1923 and based in Seattle, Washington, Safeco sells insurance to drivers and homeowners through a network of independent agents throughout the United States.
