SEATTLE, Wash. (Sept. 24, 2012) – Safeco Insurance today announced a $15,000 donation to Special Olympics Washington, the beneficiary of Safeco’s “Community Assist” program in partnership with the Seattle Storm.
For every assist that was tallied by a Storm player during regular season home games at Key Arena, Safeco Insurance committed to donate $50, up to a total of $15,000, to Special Olympics Washington. Thanks to more than 300 assists this season, Safeco presented a check for $15,000 to Special Olympics Washington at the final game of the Storm season on Sept. 21.
“We were excited to see our commitment to Special Olympics Washington grow with every Seattle Storm assist,” said Paul Hollie, director of the Safeco Insurance Foundation and Community Relations. “Supporting the inspiring athletes, coaches and volunteers of Special Olympics Washington by partnering with the Seattle Storm and local independent agents throughout the season is a rewarding way to bring the community together.”
As part of the Community Assist program, Safeco Insurance and local independent agents hosted groups of 50 fans from different non-profit organizations at home games throughout the season. Each organization received a $500 donation from Safeco along with free tickets and a T-shirt for each guest.
