Seattle, Wash. (Aug. 24, 2011) — Safeco Insurance has named Mark Soule a Community Hero for his work with Children Awaiting Parents, Inc. (CAP), which will receive a $5,000 donation from Safeco on behalf of Soule and MGM Associates Penfield, N.Y.
Soule was nominated for the Safeco Community Hero award by Michael Montag, president, of MGM Associates of Rochester.
Each year Safeco celebrates local heroes who make a positive difference through its Agent Giving Program that’s designed to focus on three areas: education, health and safety, and civic engagement.
“Safeco applauds community heroes, like Mark, who share their gifts for giving and action,” said Brenda Mann Harrison, manager, Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program. “We also thank the MGM Associates of Rochester for nominating Mark and its commitment to community involvement.”
Mark Soule has been associated with Children Awaiting Parents, Inc. (CAP), for his entire life. He was adopted into the diverse Soule family when he was only 14 days old, becoming the littlest brother to four adopted siblings of various races. His mother, Peggy, helped found CAP, based in Rochester, New York. She served as its executive director for many years. Mark has since stepped into his mother's role as executive director, helping continue her work to ensure that every child gets a "forever family."
CAP advocates nationally for adoption-friendly policies and adoption from foster care. It serves only children in foster care who have waited the longest: teens, minorities, sibling groups who want to stay together, and children with emotional, mental and/or physical disabilities.
You can help Soule do more for CAP – or any of the other Safeco Community Heroes – by participating in the “Vote for your favorite Safeco Community Hero” online event.
