Seattle, Wash. (May 26, 2011) — With an above-normal hurricane season predicted to arrive on the heels of a record-setting spring for tornadoes, Safeco Insurance is encouraging residents in hurricane-prone areas to take important precautions to prepare for and recover from severe weather.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) estimates there could be 12 to 18 named storms across the Atlantic Basin, including three to six major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph or higher, between June 1 and Nov. 30.
