The votes are in and your favorite Safeco® Community Hero is . . .

Seattle, Wash. (Aug. 31, 2011) — Safeco Insurance recently asked you to vote for your favorite community hero from a roster of 14 individuals we had selected to receive the Safeco Community Hero Award, which includes a donation from Safeco to the nonprofit organization they support.

After two weeks of voting, the results are in! Your favorite Safeco Community Hero is John Kerle, one of the founders of Charitable Deeds and Services, a charity serving needy residents in and around Knox, Pennsylvania.

Because Kerle received the most votes in our online voting event, Safeco Insurance will donate an additional $5,000 grant to Charitable Deeds and Services.

Kerle and the other individuals featured in “Vote for your favorite Safeco Community Hero” were nominated by Safeco agents across the country through the Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program. Kerle was nominated by Carla J. Magrini, marketing representative of Burns and Burns Assoc., Inc., Clarion, Penn.

Congratulations John Kerle and Charitable Deeds and Services! Safeco thanks you – and all local heroes – for making our communities better places to live and work.
