SEATTLE, Wash. (Sept. 5, 2012) – Safeco Insurance and the Seattle Storm are teaming up for a “Community Assist” program that will help support the nearly 10,000 athletes that participate in Special Olympics Washington games and other activities.
Every time a Storm player makes an assist during a regular season home game at Key Arena, Safeco Insurance will donate $50 to Special Olympics Washington, up to a total of $15,000.
“We’re proud to salute the champions of Special Olympics Washington,” said Paul Hollie, director of the Safeco Insurance Foundation and Community Relations. “Their athletes, volunteers and coaches serve as powerful examples of inner strength, determination and commitment.”
After the final Storm assist is tallied in the Community Assist program, a check will be presented by Safeco to Special Olympics Washington during the last regular season game on Sept. 21.
As part of the Community Assist program, Safeco Insurance and independent agent partners in the Seattle area will host different nonprofit organizations and their fans at the Storm’s home games. Each organization will receive a $500 donation from Safeco Insurance and free game tickets and Storm T-shirts for 50 guests.
