2013 Safeco Insurance

Votes from community supporters across the country pushed four volunteer groups to the top in the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen contest and earned a total of $40,000 for the charities they support.

The top vote-getters in Safeco’s Make More Happen vote-off and the nonprofit organizations that will each receive a $10,000 donation from Safeco Insurance are:

  • Agency: J. Smith Lanier & Co., Columbus, Ga. (Make More Happen Award nomination submitted by Bill Sturkie, corporate director, personal lines)
Charity: Brain Tumor Foundation for Children, Atlanta
  • Agency: Kilian Insurance Service, Glendale, Wis. (Make More Happen Award nomination submitted by Mary Beth Kilian, owner)
Charity: United Performing Arts Fund, Milwaukee, Wis.
  • Agency: Hunter-Williams Insurance Agency, Inc., Portsmouth, Ohio (Make More Happen Award nomination submitted by Mark S. Hunter, owner)
Charity: Steven A Hunter Hope Fund, Portsmouth, Ohio
  • Agency: Miller Insurance, Tualatin, Ore. (Make More Happen Award nomination submitted by Ryan Miller, president)

The four winners were selected during a three-week online voting event featuring the volunteer impact of 23 independent insurance agencies that received a Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award.

The Make More Happen Award recognizes the community commitment of Safeco’s independent agent partners with a donation of $2,000 to the charities supported by their volunteer efforts.
